Hong Kong residents increasingly see Portugal as a gateway to Europe. According to the South China Morning Post, the people of the former British colony are concerned about the erosion of freedoms lived in the country and therefore consider obtaining Portuguese citizenship.
For the third consecutive year, the number of foreigners living in Portugal increased, with 480,300 people having residence permits. This figure includes immigrants (nationals from non-Schengen countries) and resident foreigners (citizens of EU and Schengen countries).
With the lack of labor in Portugal, Portuguese companies will increasingly look abroad, mainly in Brazil, France and India.
In a list of 161 countries published by Forbes, Portugal ranks 25th as the best country to invest in, ahead of countries such as Italy and the Czech Republic.
Forbes magazine recently considered Portugal one of the 7 best European countries for a foreign citizen to acquire residency and European citizenship. This magazine presents the advantages that Portugal offers to Americans interested in establishing their residence in Europe or obtaining a European nationality.
