Impact of covid-19 on investments and processes ongoing in Portugal
ANNOUNCEMENT
There are many clients who have contacted us over the past few weeks in order to understand the impact that the Coronavirus may have on the development of investments that are ongoing, requests for nationality, as well as on their migratory processes to Portugal.
There are currently several countries that limit the free movement of their citizens, having closed borders, prohibiting them from traveling to other countries at this time. For this reason and others, we believe that the fear of our customers is understandable, but in the overwhelming majority of cases, there are no reasons to suspend ongoing business or interrupt the intention to obtain Portuguese nationality or immigrate to Portugal. At the beginning of each process, a Power of Attorney is signed in our favor, an instrument that allows us to work on behalf and in representation of our clients at a distance, without the need for clients to travel to Portugal for their investments and processes to continue.
Only in cases where the presence of our clients in Portugal is required, namely, for appointments previously scheduled at SEF (Immigration Police) or other entities that require the physical presence of the Claimants, have we postponed them. The rest of the processes continue their normal course.
For clients who now want to start their nationality and migratory processes to Portugal or intend to invest in our country at this time, there is no reason not to do so. The processes have several phases and may take several months, with no need to not start the processes due to Coronavirus, as it will not have an immediate effect on the respective processes.
