SEF suspends immigrant appointments

Visas and Residence Permits
residence permits

Due to the lack of personnel, the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) no longer accepts indefinite appointments for immigrants. The last vacancies are for residence permits and renewal or family reunion only.

All mainland and island service posts have their calendar filled by the end of 2019, and SEF even admits that it does not know when it will open the 2020 appointments.

The chairman of the Foreign Service Research and Inspection Career Union revealed that “This problem is due to a lack of staff and a lack of investment in technology. This is a chronic issue that has been dragging on.”
