What is StartUp Visa?

Corporate, Non-habitual Resident, Visas and Residence Permits

StartUp Visa is a program aimed at foreign entrepreneurs who want to start an innovative company in Portugal and thereby obtain a residence visa and subsequently a residence permit.

 

Who can use StartUp Visa?

It is applicable to entrepreneurs wishing to develop their project in Portugal, even if they do not have a company incorporated, and / or entrepreneurs who already have business projects in their countries of origin and who wish to pursue their activity in Portugal.

The program may cover a maximum of 5 entrepreneurs (per project) who will be granted residence visas.

Note: The company will only have to be incorporated during the incubation contract and must be established at the end of it.

Conditions

Entrepreneurs wishing to access StartUp Visa must demonstrate that they meet the following conditions in particular:

  • Being over 18 years old and having permanent residence outside Shengen Space;
  • They have no criminal record and have their contributory situation regularized in Portugal;
  • Intending to develop an innovative project with potential for international growth;
  • The project focuses on technology and knowledge, with prospects for developing innovative goods or services;
  • That has the potential to create skilled employment;
  • That your project has the capacity to achieve, in five (5) years, a turnover of over €325,000.00/year and/or an asset value of over €325,000.00/year;
  • A bank statement demonstrating the existence of its own financial resources corresponding to €5,146.80 and confirming the possibility of transferring these funds to a Bank in Portugal;
  • Be enrolled in an incubator and see your project accepted by IAPMEI.

Note: When it does not compromise the development of the project, the entrepreneur may pursue another activity in parallel that guarantees his subsistence in Portugal.

  • Family Reunification;
  • Access to a residence permit;
  • To reconcile your residence permit with the Non-Habitual Resident Status (NHR);
  • To Portuguese nationality (at the end of 5 years).
