These figures also reveal that, on the one hand, there was a 14% growth compared to 2021 and, on the other, it was the second best year ever in terms of entrepreneurship: in 2019, 49,594 new companies were created.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to data revealed by the Informa D&amp;B Barometer, 25,518 sole proprietorships were set up; 19 934 private limited companies, 361 public limited companies and 2591 different entities, thus making the global value of 48 404 new organizations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After calculating and comparing the data for 2022 with the same period, the Informa D&amp;B Barometer reports that the Portuguese business fabric has seen a 26% growth over a period of 7 years (between 2015 and 2022), despite the constraints in 2020 and part of 2021, when different business areas were affected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Creation of new companies in 2022:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Corporations &#8211; 361<\/li>\n<li>Private Equity Company \u2013 19,934<\/li>\n<li>Sole proprietorships \u2013 25,518<\/li>\n<li>Remaining \u2013 2591<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Total: 48,404<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What sectors are the companies created in 2022 from?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Informa D&amp;B Barometer carried out a study on the business areas that were most evident in 2022, leading to the formation of new companies. Here is the ranking:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Transport<\/li>\n<li>General Services<\/li>\n<li>Business Services<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation and Catering<\/li>\n<li>Information Technologies<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foreclosures and insolvency proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Informa D&amp;B&#8217;s Barometer also lists companies that, for a variety of reasons, have closed their doors. In 2022, 12,988 companies closed down, the lowest number ever since there was a public record of these matters. The D&amp;B Barometer also points out that the creation of new companies specifically in this area slightly exceeded the 2019 metrics, when 19,598 new business organizations were registered, while in 2022 the number rose to 19,739.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The North region of the country witnessed a growth of only 5% in terms of the creation of new companies, which represents a large distance from the numbers achieved pre-pandemic.
