This figure includes immigrants (nationals from non-Schengen countries) and resident foreigners (citizens of EU and Schengen countries).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the Immigration, Border and Asylum Report (RIFA), 93,154 new residence permits were granted, 51% more than in 2017. That same year, the number of immigrants was 421,711, an increase of 13.9%. % next year.<\/p>\n<p>The largest community of foreigners living in Portugal is Brazil, which in 2018 applied for + 143.7% of residence permit applications compared to 2017.
