Government extends Air Traffic restrictions until 30th of May

Visas and Residence Permits
restrictions

The Government has extended air traffic restrictions until the end of May, with the exception of countries with less than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, who can now make non-essential trips to Portugal.

The Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 59-B/2021 establishes that passengers from countries with an incidence rate of 500 cases or more per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days are required to comply with a prophylactic isolation period of 14 days, and only essential trips are allowed. The list of these countries includes: South Africa, Brazil, India, Cyprus, Croatia, Lithuania, Netherlands and Sweden.

The statement also determines countries that have an incidence rate of less than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and, from 17th of May, “can make all kinds of trips to Portugal, including non-essential trips”.

Therefore, passengers from countries outside the European Union, countries associated with the Schengen Area (Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland) and the United Kingdom are no longer required to comply with prophylactic isolation and can make non-essential trips to Porugal.

The requirement to present a negative PCR test performed in the 72 hours prior to boarding remains mandatory.

Air traffic restrictions remain until 30th of May 2021, taking into account the context of the epidemiological situation in which we live.
